Miley Cyrus to appear nude on Vanity Fair

Miley Cyrus will appear topless in the new issue of Vanity Fair, the magazine Britney Spears appeared nude almost 2 years ago. Further paving the road for Miley/Britney comparison. It shows Miley Cyrus and she is covering herself with a bed sheet. People close to Miley are saying that she was clothed and she was artistically manipulated to look like she was topless.
Miley had this to say recently: “Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought it was really cool. That’s what she wanted me to do, and you can’t say no to Annie. I think it’s really artsy. It wasn’t in a skanky way.”
In a prepared statement Miley had a different view of the matter: “I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed, I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.’”
“My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.”
A Disney spokeswoman, Patti McTeague blames Vanity Fair in her statement. “Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines,” she said.
After that statement by Miley Cyrus, Vanity Fair quickly responded: “Miley’s parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley. In fact, when Bruce Handy interviewed Miley, he asked her about the photo and she was very cheerful about it and thought it was perfectly fine.”
Vanity Fair will defend this issue to death and will indeed go ahead and print the pictures because the next issue release is just around the corner and it’s too late to make changes, especially to a cover story. Magazines rarely keep a back up cover story and these photos are too good to pass up for Vanity Fair. This will rival the PR nightmare then Tom Cruise’s 2005 Oprah incident and threatens a potential billion dollar Disney star’s future. This puts a whole new meaning to one of Miley’s song “Nobody’s perfect, I gotta work it”. Britney Spears was offered $3 million in her Vanity Fair deal and Miley may have gotten around $1.5 to $2 million.
Legally these photos are protected under the artistic license and a precedence has been set recently when a 17 year old model Ali Michael graced the pages of New York Times partially exposing her breasts. NYT called it a mistake and nothing happened. Of course Miley Cyrus is no Ali Michael, Miley is well known actress and a singer, an idol to tens of millions of tweens and teens.
Miley’s parents were there for the shoot but left before the final shot where Miley was to be appear topless. Miley’s grandmother and her personal teacher was there to witness the shot. People close to the family said Annie Leibovitz (more information on her below) convinced both of them that it was going to be artistic. Billy Ray and Tish are said to be mortified. Originally she was wearing a flesh colored tank top but Annie told her to remove it.
There is more to this story but we have been contacted by Miley Cyrus’ camp to not break the story untill they formulate a response which we will gladly comply with. More updates to come Monday night.
Update: Annie is the head portrait photographer for Vanity Fair. She is the photographer to go to when you want to shoot an A-list celebrity. She was the head photographer of the controversial cover shoot of LeBron James and Gisele Bündchen and the latest Miley Cyrus photo shoot.
Our staff checked various sources and it turns out she was hired by Disney in 2007 to promote Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Year of a Million Dreams campaign. This ad premiered as a special insert in the March 2007 issue of Vanity Fair, GQ, Vogue, and few other magazines.
So there you go, Annie Leibovitz and Disney has a direct connection, and by association Vanity Fair. Weather, there was a three way conspiracy to publish semi-nude pictures of Miley Cyrus is left for speculation.
